Example: A post that initially goes unnoticed might suddenly go viral, leading to a rapid increase in followers and potential customers. At the same time, a negative comment or incident can create serious reputational risks that may affect the brand for a long time.

Federated networks are distributed systems consisting of independent servers or platforms that can interact with one another. In the context of social media, this means a decentralized approach where users can communicate across different services while still being part of the same network. This is particularly relevant for alternative platforms such as Mastodon and others that are not controlled by a single owner.
